Stamps (Philately)/1993 Elvis sheets

Question
Hi Mike.

My father is a retired postal clerk who
purchased several full sheets of
these stamps when they were issued in
1993.  He got them because the black colors
appear to be shifted or off center.  Have you
heard of these stamps existing?  Any idea on
value?

Thanks for your time,
Steve

Answer
Hi Steve,
Thanks for the question,
Steve, I do know the Elvis stamp you are talking about. I have seen numerous color shifts on this issue, most being fairly minor, to some very dramatic ones. The normal stamp is listed the the Scott Catalog as Cat# 2721, but the catalog does not list color shifts, misperforation, etc, what I like to call minor errors, as there are just to many different ones out there. This sounds like it would be of interest to collectors of EFO's (Errors, freaks and oddities). But as for the value, it is very speculative, and depends mostly on how dramatic the shift is, what I like to call the eye appeal. So unfortunately without a picture or scan it is very difficult to give a value. If you would like to do a follow-up or email me a picture or scan I would be happy to give you an Idea of the value.

Thanks again for the question,
Mike
