Question I am a Cuban collector who has quite a number of postal stationary items from India and would like to prepare them as a collection but I do not have any information regarding when where they issued, why as well as the postal rates they cover. I have from the British rule in India, the Dominion period, Republic, modern ones (2004-2005) as well as some from feudatory states. Is there any web site where I could find some information? thanks very much for your time in considering my question
Answer Hello,
Thanks for contacting me. Glad to know that you are interested in Indian Postal Stationery.
Well, for Pre Independence period, you will have to refer Catalogues of Derek Lang or Manik Jain, where you will find all the details.
For Modern India i.e. from 1947 to 2004 you can refer my own publication : A Guide to Modern Indian Postal Stationery (Envelopes). This is first volume and covers information only on Envelopes. For Post Cards and Letter Sheets yet my catalogues are not ready.
Feel free to ask me for more information. You can email me at edesk.prashant@gmail.com
