Subject: Tinman

Question
Tinman destroyed a Romulan vessel easily. The Crystalline Entity stripped entire worlds of life. So which is more powerful?

Which would win in a conflict?

In the Tinman episode, Data remarked that "Tinman is the only naturally occuring lifeform that can achieve warp speeds" (or words to that effect). Did Data forget the Crystalline Entity?

Answer
Hi again John -

Based on the evidence presented in the episodes I would bet the Crystalline Entity is the more powerful of the two.  Thus, in a conflict between the two I would bet on the Entity.

It was remarked in the episode of the same name that Gomtu was an immature member of his species, so I would bet his skills in a conflict would not be as refined as the Crystalline Entity.

Data obviously forgot about the Entity.  Perhaps the Entity travels through space, or achieves warp speed through artificial means?  That's a guess however and I would bet that the writers simply made an error.

Hope that helps

Deran
