Question Could the Krenim temporal weapon erase energy creatures out of existence?
Could an Ocampa throw an energy creature to the floor using his mental abilities?
I liken the Mask's abilities to that of the enhanced Mitchell and Evans from TOS. Both showed near-Q abilities, and the Mask also showed the ability to apparently bring things from nothing and defy the laws of physics in other ways.
Mitchell and Evans were both 'defeated,' or shown to be fallible, so I guess the same line of reasoning would extend to the Mask.
Is there any non-magical being that you know of which could defeat Superman, based only on strength, cunning, intelligence, etc.? "Magical" beings include beings that use mental abilities such as the Q, Douwd, etc.
Answer Hi John -
I think the Krenim temporal weapon would be effective against most energy creatures as most appear to be as bound by the laws of linear time as flesh and blood creatures. Against beings like the Prophets (who are not bound by linear time) the Krenim temporal weapon might not be as effective, but against those that are subject to such constraints, I believe it would.
I think an Ocampa that is practiced in the use of their abilities could affect an energy creature. I can see two ways this could be accomplished: First, mentally affecting the energy creature's mind and making them throw themselves to the ground, or generating a sufficient enough signal from the Ocampan mind that it causes a disruption in the energy creature's matrix, thus physically forcing it to the ground.
I agree with your reasoning about the Mask. Though he appeared immensely powerful, he still has a human mind and certain thought processes that can be exploited.
That is an interesting question about Superman! The answer is yes! In Batman #612 (Part of the "Hush" storyline) Superman is 'defeated' by Batman of all people!
At the time Supes is under the control of Poison Ivy. Batman lures him into the sewer tunnels beneath Metropolis, where the Kryptonian's x-ray vision is useless. In addition the tunnels are filled with natural gas, so Superman doesn't dare use his heat vision, lest he blow up half of his favorite city.
Because the tunnels are so twisty, Supes' ability to use his super speed is limited. Eventually he does catch Batman however, at which point Bats pulls out a kryptonite ring and punches the Man-of-Steel in the face!
Now Batman knows that, eventually Supes will overpower him, so while he keeps the Kryptonian distracted, Batman has Catwoman kidnap Lois Lane to use as a hostage against her husband.
So, even though a lot of fans believe Batman 'cheated' he was able to control the Man-of-Steel.
The Parasite is also a DC Comics villain with the power to absorb superhuman abilities from others and has constantly plagued Superman even though Parasite’s powers are scientific rather than magical.
Darkseid (from the New Gods) and his son Orion have on many occasions proven to be nearly as strong as the Man-of-Steel and he has been forced to out think them rather than rely on his immense strength to defeat them both.
In addition General Zod (from the Phantom Zone) is the equal of Superman in strength and has given the Man-of-Steel a run for his money on more than one occasion.
