Star Trek: The Next Generation - Hulk

Expert: Deran McKean - 6/25/2009

Question
I have to ask these questions under "Star Trek" because I've asked too many questions to you in the other topic. These are follow-ups to the Hulk-Wolverine clip.

Are these 'episodes' also written by the same people that write the comics?

Wouldn't the Excalbian shatter just like the huge boulder?

Would Odo or Armus feel any pain from this?

Would Superman feel any pain or have any minor injuries from this?

Is Hulk the second-strongest DC/Marvel character?

Why do you believe that the Taurean would probably survive, but 8472, the Borg drone, and the Gorn, etc., would die?

Answer
Hi John -

I changed my comic listing to unlimited today so that shouldn't happen in the future.

No, the televised episodes very often are not written by the same people who write the comic stories.

It depends on the molecular strength of the Excalbian and what type of support (or skeletal) structure they have underneath their epidermal covering.  I'm sure a hit like that wouldn't do them much good but if their tensile strength is slightly more than the boulder they were hit with, they would survive.

We know so little about how Odo's sensory apparatuses work but I think some type of data would reach his 'brain' and let him know that his physical form had suffered a major impact.  Ditto for Armus.

If Superman is powerful enough to fly through a sun, as has been depicted in more than one DC comic, and he could do so without being crushed by the enormous gravity produced by it, then the impact of a boulder (even in the Hulk's hands) shouldn't even tickle.

Hulk's hard to judge because his strength potential is theoretically unlimited, but, on a continuum, he's nowhere near as strong as Superman.  Other characters like Thor are pretty close to Hulk's level, and it depends on how you look at strength.

The character of The Blob is immovable once he has his feet set and even the Hulk couldn't move him.  Rogue could potentially absorb the Hulk's power and then be just as strong as him and, any one of the Celestials could easily stomp down the Green Goliath.

The Taurean's musculature might allow them to survive for a little while, but not for long.  Just a guess though.

thanks!

Deran
