Question If Q gave Nagilum a choice between living as a Calamarain for the next 30 years, then dying, or living as Nagilum for the next 3 days, and then dying, what would Nagilum choose?
If a Romulan Warbird suddenly appeared in Earth's orbit without warning, with their shields down and their weapons systems not online, how would the following react?
A) Enterprise-D
B) Original Enterprise
C) Defiant
D) Klingon Cruiser
E) Calamarain
F) Borg Cube
If Spock or Worf were not expecting anything, could Kirk or Riker knock each down with a hit to their chest?
How would Apollo or the Edo god respond to anarchists, people who visited the respective planets who couldn't care less about authority, and did whatever they wished?
Answer Hello John -
My guess is that Nagilum is effectively immortal so, 30 years wouldn't really seem like a long time to him as it might to you or I. Three days probably wouldn't be enough to gather the info he wanted (in his estimation), so I'd bet he'd choose the 30 years. That way he could experience 'life' of a sort and then explore death as well.
A) Ent-D - Picard's first action in nearly all similar circumstances was to try and establish communications. If the Romulans had their shields down and weapons offline, I think Picard would follow suit, though he'd tell Mr. Worf to be ready to raise the Ent's shields the second any trouble was detected.
B) NCC-1701 - Again, I think standard Starfleet protocol would be to keep weapons and shields down in that type of situation, and I'm sure Kirk would have Spock performing other scans of the ship's interior, life forms etc. to see if the crew was intact or in need of assistance.
C) Defiant - The Defiant might actually approach under cloak and try to establish communications to determine the intention of the Warbird's crew.
D) Klingon - Given their natural propensity for violence (particularly against Romulans) my guess is that a Klingon captain would order the weapon's systems of the Warbird disabled before trying to establish communications and ordering the Romulans to surrender.
E) Calamarain - they seemed pretty prone to attack and violence so, my guess is they would immediately attack if they perceived a threat (which an attack on a planet they considered valuable, like their equivalent of Earth, would be.)
F) Borg Cube - They'd immediately establish communications and order the Romulan crew to prepare themselves for assimilation!
It would depend on how well balanced Spock and Worf were, and how hard Riker or Kirk hit them. I would say that if they were completely surprised and were standing in what you or I would consider a 'normal' stance (i.e. feet shoulder width apart and parallel) and they were hit with a pretty decent amount of force (i.e. Kirk and Riker were serious) then, yes they could be knocked down.
Apollo would probably consider the anarchists a threat and try and dominate and/or control them. I haven't seen the episode in a while but I thought he left Earth because people stopped believing in the ancient gods. If that is the case he'd probably feel particularly threatened by the anarchists, fearing that the same thing that happened on Earth might happen again and that he might be exposed for the fact that he is indeed not a god.
I think the Edo God would take immediate steps (i.e. killing the anarchists) to keep their 'radical' ideas from infecting the Edo.
