Question Can changelings pass through solid objects, while maintaining their shapes, and not becoming featureless blobs (like when the T-1000 morphed through the bars in the hospital, yet his features were not affected)?
I read on a forum that a person who gets transported actually dies, because his brain 'dies' when it dematerializes. He then returns to life when his brain is rematerialized. Does this sound cogent to you?
How would the Great Link react to the following beaming down to their planet (transporting on top of the rock)?
A) Trelane
B) Douwd
C) Q
D) Metron
E) Sheliak
F) Borg
G) Gary Mitchell
H) Spock
I) Data
J) Borg Queen
K) Traveler
L) Calamarain
M) Cytherian
N) Tribble
o) snow slug
p) Captain Picard
Q) Darmok beast
Answer Hi there John -
I don't see why they couldn't. The T-1000 seemed able to pass through the bars of the hallway at the Pescadero institution without any problem.
Doing so would depend heavily on how dense the object they are trying to pass through is, but, something with a lot of 'dead air' space (like a jail door) shouldn't give them any problem.
I haven't heard that theory before! It sounds pretty wild and something the Bones would have brought up at least once given his phobia about being transported.
We know from the episode where Barclay experiences transporter psychosis (Realm of Fear) that he appears to be 'alive' when transporting, even having enough sense to grab what appears to be a monster/eel coming at him and bring it through the reintegration sequence with him, whereupon we find out that it is in fact a person. (The individual was a trapped member of the crew of the USS Yosemite who was apparently stuck in the transporter's reintegration process).
That episode would seem to fly in the face of the 'an individual dies' theory.
Great Link Reactions -
I doubt they would appreciate anyone beaming down to their planet and, if able, would retaliate against them and remove them from their world. So, I think they would attack and try to overwhelm the intruder immediately and these would be the results:
A) Trelane - He'd use his abilities against them and probably cause the Link a great deal of harm (though probably unintentionally).
B) Douwd - He'd probably use his abilities against the Link in a non-harmful way. Maybe make them all hear the music he subjected Deanna Troi too, but at ten times the volume or something like that.
C) Q - He'd probably embarrass or torment the members of the Link using his abilities though I doubt he'd hurt them.
D) Metron - Would probably apologize and try and establish good relations between himself and the Founders.
E) Sheliak - The Sheliak would probably become mired in the Link (like chocolate sauce in ice cream) and, they might attack the Sheliak mentally.
F) Borg - They'd overwhelm and kill a single drone within seconds.
G) Mitchell - He'd probably react with fear and confusion and end up causing serious harm to several of the Founders.
H) Spock - He'd probably allow the Link to take him and attempt a mind meld so they could be assured of his good intentions.
I) Data - He'd probably attempt to explain his reasons for beaming down.
J) Borg Queen - I think she'd be overwhelmed pretty quickly.
K) Traveler - He'd probably pull himself out of time and/or use his mental abilities to convey his good intentions.
L) Calamarain - I'm sure they would fight back, but experienced shapeshifters should be able to circumvent the Calamarain's abilities.
M) Cytherian - Would probably be able to beam away just as quickly without coming to any harm.
N) Tribble - Would fight back using the teeth, claws, dermal armor, energy projection capabilities and ability to teleport that individual Tribble drones are known for.
O) Snow Slug - According to recently released data the snow slug is called a Hengrauggi (Don't ask me how to say it though!). My guess is the Link would overwhelm and kill the creature pretty quickly.
P) Picard - Actually they would probably ask Picard what the heck he was thinking before attacking him.
Q) Darmok Beast - drowned in a pool of changelings!
