Star Trek: The Original Series/Cloned Race

Question
QUESTION: I seem to recall an episode of the original series where they encountered a race of aliens where they all wore masks on their faces to hide a what they described as a horrible disfigurement caused by experimentation (possibly in cloning).

It turned out the fact was every person in their race had the same face. I can't seem to find this episode. Can anyone help.

ANSWER: Dave? No such episode exists. The closest I can think of is the Menagerie but they did not wear masks. Are you sure you're not thinking of Next Gen or another series? Your description is so vague that this is the best I can do.
Respond or give me more information.

QUESTION: Thanks for the prompt response.

The storyline in more detail involved meeting an alien race who all wore a face mask which looked like a face. They explained they had a disfigurement as a result of genetic experimentation or cloning or some similar explanation and had worn masks for generations. The climax of the programme was when the leader discarded the mask to reveal a good looking, non disfigured face but the punchline was when the rest of the aliens also took the masks off each and every one had the exact same face. They could not bear to live in htis state and hence the masks.

I was sure it was Star Trek but if not I'll need to keep looking. It wasn't TNG or the newer ones as I have TNG all on DVD and the rest have frequent showings still on TV.

I'm now starting to think I dreamt the whole story!! :-)

The search goes on!

Answer
LOL! Dare to dream....
As Canada's Classic Trekspert, I have each one of the plots pretty much memorized, as well as most details. And unless you are describing the plot very badly, I suspect it is not even Star Trek (possibly Twilight Zone?) that had this episode.
Sorry Dave.
