Steering Column Repair - Actuator Rack 1993 Chevy Silverado C1500

Expert: Douglas Gan - 11/2/2009

Question
My truck was broken into and stolen. The thieves broke the bowl plate and accessed the actuator rack and broke off the rounded end of the actuator rack that connects to the ignition switch actuator rod. The column is exposed and it looks like there is a round torque screw that if loosened will take off the housing thast gives access to the actuator rack. Please advise.  Thanks very much.

Answer
Hi Jim:
I followed you right up until the last sentence, but no worries.
We have recently uploaded some videos on our website to give you first hand viewing of how to remove, disassemble, and reassemble the parts you are talking about. They are broken down into step by step 2-3 minute detailed videos with instructions. The video is for a Chevrolet truck, the column is very similar to yours.

I hope these videos help you.  If not, please contact me again for more information.

Lastly, if you need parts to repair this column simply email us on our "Contact Us / Order Parts" page and we will get back in touch with you personally

Good luck

Doug
