Steering Column Repair/corvette tilt

I have a 1992 corvette with a lot of slop in the tilt in the column,,,,,my question is,,,should I look for a rebuilt column or rebuild this one,,,I have no idea where to get the parts I might need and to tell you the truth I am thinking that it might be just as easy to replace the whole column,,,,,,I really have no idea witch way to go with this problem and if you could steer me in the right direction I would be grateful
thanks in advance

Hello Kerry:

We deal with this problem all the time for the 1990-1993 Corvette.  The extra weight of the airbag on the upper end of the column in addition to the difficulty most drivers have getting in and out of the car cause the pivot pin holes for the tilt housing to elongate and wear.  This in turn creates play in the column.
Our company still has an inventory of the parts you need (discontinued GM items).  Here is a link to the parts page directly. (I must prepare you for some slight sticker shock).
Tilt housing set (NEW)
I need to caution you about purchasing a used column (if you can find one).  They too will already have some play that you will not feel until it is fully installed and secure.
We do have less expensive ones from used columns, but we too cannot guarantee the tightness of the components.  We believe them to be tight, but cannot guarantee 100%

We also offer instructions on how to disassemble and rebuild the entire column here: (PDF or Video)

Good luck
