Question I want to buy a used 1995 Honda Accord LX sedan from a coworker. Recently the owner discovered that the steering column was leaking. The owner says it's not bad and is still being driven. How much do you estimate it would cost to fix this problem, if I decided to buy the car.
Answer Hello Andrea,
I think you mean the steering rack has started to leak. This is a the most common problem with the newer steering systems. I would estimate it to cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $400-$700 give or take depending on the genre of the replacement part. But labor rates vary from shop to shop that it's hard to pinpoint a cost. I would suggest you call some local shops and ask for a rough estimate to replace the steering rack and hoses on that particular model.
Hope that helps.
Have a great day!
