Question Hi I am 16 years old and have been lifint for quite a while now. i play football and lacrosse and I am currently just strating my football trining.
My first question is Creatine Monohydrate. In my highschool weight room i see alot of the players supplementing with it. They say it makes them much stronger but with my own research I've read that it leads to kidney failure and other side effects. I would like to know where you stand on Creatine Monohydrate.
My second question is about Whey Protein. I would like to know if all the hype about Whey Protein is true and i should be taking it to help me gain muscle for football.
Thanks for your time,
Luke
Answer Hi Luke. Here are my thoughts:
1) At the age of 16 you should not even be worrying about supplements. Instead focus more on training hard and eating right. Most athletes your age do not do either.
2)I have never seen any research where creatine has been linked to kidney failure. A lot of the claims that are out there are just not true. When used right, it is a helpful supplement.
3)What's the hype about whey protein? Again, it can be a useful supplement, only if your nutrition and training are in check. Whey protein is best used post-workout in order to start the muscle building process right away and enhance recovery.
