Question
QUESTION: I have been weight training and spinning for about 3 years.  I don't always have good control over dietary choices.  I'm now committed to changing my diet and improving my appearance.  I have seen pictures and articles in magazines of women who have done it.  Any suggestions to get me started?

ANSWER: Hi Beth,
Thank you for your question.
I will be glad to help you to change your diet and improving your appearance.
Could you give me some more information about yourself.
Such as:
how old you are
how much you weigh
what your goals are
what your current weight training program is currently
what your current diet is like
do you have any injuries
and any other pertinent info that you can give me.
Thank You,
Bonnie

---------- FOLLOW-UP ----------

QUESTION: I'm 58 years old, 175 lbs, 10 of those pounds very recent due excessive caloric intake (chocolate and gourmet ice cream).  Normally I follow a relatively good diet high in fiber, low fat, occ. red meat.  I spin for cardio 2 times a week.  I used to walk on treadmill but now have pain in hips and feet that just don't make that an option for me.  I work out with a trainer 2 times a week and we have talked about her giving me a workout for the third day that i will do on my own.  I'm committed to seeing results.

Answer
Hi Beth,
Thank you for the followup.
A basic weight training program that you can do at the gym using their machines are:
leg press
calf press
leg extension
bicep curl
tricep pressdown
chest press
row
lat pulldown
crunch
leg lift
bicycles.
Your trainer at the gym will be able to show you the proper exercise technique and will determine the proper amount of sets, repititions and weight.
Your nutrition is very important.
More protein and carbs-less fat and sodium.
Protein-tuna,lean turkey,etc.
Carbs-pasta,rice,potatoes,etc.
drink plenty of water.
Thank you,
Let me know if I can be of any more assistance to you,
Bonnie
