Strength Training - cardio

Expert: Jeremiah Lurken - 7/12/2008

Question
when trying to lose weight should i do cardio and strength training or just cardio.

Answer
Nicole,

This is a tough question.  If time, frequency, or your comfort in strength training where not factors, I would say definitely do both of them.  Strength training, if done properly can be a huge aid in increasing your metabolism, and burning extra calories.  Cardio burns calories and is very important when it comes to weight loss, but more importantly you left out nutrition.  Weight loss is all about calories in versus calories out.

Please e-mail me back and let me know what you are currently doing and what you plan on doing.  Then I might be able to help you more with your question.

Thanks,
Jeremiah
