Question Hello Mr Gunn,
My name is Patrick and im currently a junior who is on his Varsity High school football team. I am 5'7 195 and I bench press 225 Run a 5.4 40 and squat 245. As of right now im not starting so i would like to be lifting alot this season so i can have a solid ground work for my senior year. I would like to add 40 pounds to my bench and 60 pounds on the squat and as for the 40 a sprint workout would be great. Its currently August 1, and if i could achieve these goals by December 1, that be great thanks alot.
Answer Hey Patrick, You should be able to add a lot to your lifts but you must get on a program and stick with it. Consistent workouts are the key. It is impossible in this forum to set up complete programs because I need so much info from you and constant monitoring. Also the squat and bench are great exercises but not as key as power exercises like cleans, clean and jerks, and snatches. These are the keys to power and quickness. Go to nsca-lift.org for good info and to find a certified strength and conditioning specialist in your area certified by that organization as I am. They will set you up a program and get you started for little cost....good luck...Joe
