Experience I have been a personal trainer, aerobics instructor, nutrition advisor and boot camp instructor for several years,in South Florida. Question Hello Rick, I am 15 years old, and i have been learning kick-boxing for the past 6 months. And i find it to be very good for my fitness. And its made me much more stronger before i started. My question is, that I've been stretching alot, and it works, but I'd really like to learn how to do the splits. In order for me to kick higher. I'm not short, but not tall as well. And I can manage to kick higher than my neck. But I'd like to kick higher.
I'd also like some tips, on any fitness good for strengthning my legs.
Thank You!
Answer Hi Phil,
Thank you for your question.
My advice is for you to perform a thorough stretching program. Make sure you are warm before you perform any stretches. So do a 5-10min walk or bike till you raise a slight sweat then go through a series of leg and glute streches. This site may help:

Some good exercises for strengthening your legs are:
walking lunges
stationary lunges
squats
leg press.
Thank You,
Bonnie
