Subject: Muscle without weights..

Question
I have been reading a lot lately about gaining muscle mass/toning up without weights. I have heard mixed reviews so  I am wondering if it is possible to gainh weight by doing calisthenics alone and using one's own body weight. I know it may be more difficult, but is it possible? Also, what would be the best exercises without weights for the whole body? Biceps, chest, etc.?? Also, will doing squats without added weight add muscle? Thank you very much.

Hi Drew.  Bodyweight training is one just one of many tools for increased muscle mass muscle or strength.  For beginners, bodyweight training works very well.  But for a more advanced trainee, other methods of strength training should be incorporated.  Eventually, as one becomes adapted to bodyweight training, he/she will have to add in some external resistance to continue to see results.  

Some great bodyweight exercises are:  chin or pull or pull ups and their variations, push up variations, single leg squats, walking lunges, burpees, side or prone planks, bird dogs or sprinter sit ups.
