Experience I have been a personal trainer, aerobics instructor, nutrition advisor and boot camp instructor for several years,in South Florida. I generally prefer to train people outdoors in a park setting. The workout outside is just as tough as a gym workout.I can give people a excellent workout using just their bodyweight.I do a bootcamp style class with groups of 5-10 people.
I'm a 6 feet tall male, weighing 96 kgs(overweight). I have stubborn pot belly which I want flattened. I don't look particularly fat otherwise. I also want little more wider shoulders with little more bulky arms, along with that flat stomach.
Regarding my diet, I eat little(juice for breakfast with a banana, some rice with mashed potato for lunch, and something light for dinner)However I'm an alcoholic requiring 3-4 drinks of rum daily with my dinner.
My question to you is-
1)Will I have to stop drinking completely? Is it not possible to get a flat stomach and great shape by doing ab/weight & aerobic exercises along with diet control WITHOUT QUITTING ALCOHOL?
2)I do not have the money to go to the gym and in my part of the world, not everyone can afford it (it's expensive). But I do have light weights at home? Shall I start? Bench press? How much? how much cardio and ab exercises? What kind of ab exercises? Kindly outline some simple/starting exercises that I may start at home.
A detailed reply would be highly appreciated.
Answer Hi Rj-thank you for your question.
Yes-you will have to stop drinking alkohol completely-alcohol will do nothing positive to help you-it will only negatively affect your life.
You can take the money that you are spending on Rum and either use it to join a gym or buy some home exercise equipment.
You can do bodyweight exercises until you buy exercise equipment or join a gym.
The best bodyweight exercises are:
stationary lunges
walking lunges
lateral steps
squats
crunches
leg lifts
torso twists
side bends
push ups
pull ups
You can use your weights to do:
bicep curls
tricep kickback
one arm row
shoulder press
bench press
pec flye.
You definitley are not eating enough.
you should be eating more carbohydrates and protein.
Carb foods-pasta,rice,potatoes.
Protein foods-tuna,turkey,chicken.
Hope this helps
Good Luck,
Bonnie
