Question
Bonnie
Are there any exercise(s) that especially target fast twitch muscle growth and what are they ?
I am male 36 and still play a bit of football, would like to keep my place in team a little longer.

Answer
Brendan, thank you for your question.  Doing lighter weight with more reps help target the fast twitch muscle fibers. You can superset squats in the smith machine with standing calf raises. Then superset leg presses with calf presses on the leg press machine.   You can also do standing squats with no weight for about 15 reps then take about 15 walking lunges, then more squats, more lunges,etc-for 4 or 5 sets. You can also go outside to a park and squat, sprint 50 yards, stationary lunges, squats, sprint, squat, lunge  etc.  Stay Fit ,Bonnie

Experience

I have been a personal trainer, aerobics instructor, nutrition advisor and boot camp instructor for several years,in South Florida.
I generally prefer to train people outdoors in a park setting. The workout outside is just as tough as a gym workout.I can give people a excellent workout using just their bodyweight.I do a bootcamp style class with groups of 5-10 people.
