Question
I was wondering... I am 14 years old and aspire to be in the NHL. I have been playing hockey for three years and I was wondering if you could help me improve my speed on the ice. I am already one of the fastest skaters on the ice, but many of the players I am up against are stronger an bigger than I since I haven't quite hit my growth spurt. I want to be the fastest on the ice so my size won't be as big a factor.

THANKS!

Reid

Answer
Hey Reid,  exercises like lunges, squats, step-ups, romanian dead lifts, cleans of all types, and plyometrics is a good start.  Consult with a personal trainer preferably certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association for specifics.  Good luck.
