Strength Training - Rebound exercise

Expert: Joe Gunn - 4/23/2007

Question
Is it true that people can lose 150 calories by doing rebound exercise for 2 minutes? What if I don't do fancy moves on the trampoline but jump up and down instead? Can I lose 150 cal within 2 min?

Answer
Hi Kate, I don't think so.  It takes about 15 minutes of running for the average person to burn 150 calories with some variation due to size, speed, etc.  It sure would be a lot easier to jump on a trampoline for 2 minutes.  It would seem highly unlikely that that body could utilize 150 calories in 2 minutes.
