Question
I'm a 50 year old who pitches in a couple of baseball leagues in the DC area.  I want to strengthen my legs in the off season and am wondering if squats would be recommended.  I have a set of squat racks and free weights/dumbbells but don't have access to a home gym/universal.

Thanks,
Joe

Answer
Hey Joe, I have done squats for many years and it is an excellent exercise.  I like lunges with dumbells, step ups, front squats, and single leg squats even more.  Try a couple of these and change them out every 4-5 weeks.  Try 3 sets of 10-12 reps with 2 mins rest at first.
