Question
I am 45 years old and lift weights following the Dorian Yates plan I run 5x a week 30 minuts a day also play tennis and on occasion cross country ski. I am 5-9 233 lbs and have 19% bodyfat my diet is not bad but could be better. I would like to lose some more bodyfat. My question is some information that I have been reading suggest that strengh loss and is inevitable after age 50 is that really been tested where someone lifts weights after 50 and are checked at 60 to see what decline there has been? I lifted with my 30 year old nephew who does not train too much I was much stronger based on the information I should be weaker even though he does not train. A lot of the information is from runners who never looked muscular even in ther 20's. If I train hard will I be able to maintain most of my strengh at least until 60

Answer
Hello Kevin,
I wouldn't worry about losing strength as you age.  Make sure your intensity is high and your training is balanced and consistent.  I had a client that was 81 years old and after two years of working with him...he did 10 pull-ups and 30 dips.  He was never able to do that back when he was 40 so keep training hard and beating personal bests.
Corey
