Question Hi Brad:
I am a Masters swimmer & always looking for ways to improve my
performance in the pool. I see where Dara Torres has not one, but two
stretching coaches & attributes much of her success & ability to compete in
the Olympics at age 41 to her stretching. Do you agree with her assessment
and are there specific pre & post workout stretches that you would
recommend for swimmers? Thank you in advance for your response.
Suzanne
Answer Hi Suzanne,
Thanks for your inquiry. It's a pleasure to help and I hope the following is beneficial.
Yes, I would agree that her success & ability to compete in
the Olympics at age 41 has a lot to do with the stretching that she has done.
The type of stretching that Dara uses is a form of stretching called resistance stretching. It's a variation of PNF and Isometric stretching. There's some more information on PNF stretching here...

If you're looking for more information on PNF and Isometric stretching, have a look at The Stretching Handbook...
