Experience Saw sublime play at the 1st warped tour on august 17th 1995 at the tweeter center(was the blockbuster pavillion then),saw Long Beach Dub Allstarts perform in 2002 at the electric factory in philly.I have been playing guitar for 8 years and have both published versions of sublime guitar tab,plus can play almost 90% of sublimes music to a tee.I also have connections in the tattooing industry,and knowlege about the bands tattoo's from various interviews,pics,live show tapes,and a segment from tattoo magazine featuring opie ortiz,who inked alot of the band.Have Also been following the LBC music scene since 1995

Answer No..what he originally had was a fish skeleton tattoo..around mid 95 and it was in the center of his forearm..later to cover up track marks..as well as add to the design he added the ocean waste scene.This was done by opie ortiz..it has the skeleton as well as ascending waves in color..along with needles,trash,and toxic waste barrel all mixed together.
The tattoo by itself is the hardest to find of all his tattoo's due in part that sublime wasn't popular on a national statge while he was still alive..also because of the position of the ink on the inset of the arm it get's distorted alot when bending the arm.unlike the sublime tat and his son's name on his chest which are both very visible and easy to read.
To assist you the best my friend i'd advise you to add opie ortiz on myspace...since he did the tattoo he may well have flash of the tat or for a reasonable fee may be able to draw it up and send it to you.If your in the so cal area he tattoos out of american beauty tattoo on PCH...all that info is on his myspace.
The koi fish is a very popular tattoo as it's heavily rooted in japanese mythology and art..because of the way it flows many folks get full sleeves done with the koi fish,waves,flower pedals.
To give your girl a good idea of what's available hit up google or yahoo search and enter koi fish tattoo/tattoo's...an you'll have a plethora of good ideas at your fingertips..moreover the designs look great with color or black an grey.
