Expert: Andy Date: 7/2/2008 Subject: Loops, and drum tracks
Question I was wondering who arranged all the loops for songs like cisco kid, scarlet begonias, garbage grove, what i got, and any other song that contains a looped track that i might have left out. Also, what means they used to create and arrange the loops.
Thanks.
Answer brad did most of the effect loops for the band-back when they were recording that album..it was an experimental time/album...brad and eric where holed up in some real dumps thruout orange county(hence the secret tweaker pad reference). The band had little to no funds and brad was just gettin into heavy drug use..injecting heroin. For days on end he would sit andplay guitar, loop drums, synth, effects, and sound bytes that he and others had collected.
the main method of doing this was through a tascam 4 track and a mackie board,,much of now which is out dated or upgraded..giving the album a real lo-fi sound.Only a handful of the songs on that album were professionally recorded(saw red/poolshark/stp).
the mixer was able to create most of the effects heard on the album an the tascam was able to loop them as needed. For an amatuer recorder at that time brad wasn't half bad at it either~
