About GMan
Expertise
I can answer any/all questions in regard to "sublime". I was down with the band and Skunk Records since 1991; the year they released their second cassette, "Jah Won't Pay the Bills" until the end in 1996. I have answers to all of your questions about their music, their releases, their unreleased music, their promos, merchandise, and the like. You ask it, I'll answer it.

Experience
I have extensive knowledge of "sublime" from their origin(s)through the end of their career. I have been involved with "sublime" from the early years when Kelly Vargas was on Drums, I know everything that there is to know about their early career, their rise to fame in the early 90's, & on through until May 96' when Brad passed away. I specialize in the band's merchandise. I have been collecting everything that is "sublime" since the beginning and have extensive knowledge on the subject. They released an unparalleled amount of DYI promotional merchandise before being signed to MCA & I would be glad to help you find out what piece of their BIG puzzle you are holding on to and/or what you'd like to get your hand on!

Publications
I am a regular on all of the sublime chat boards and was a constant on the now defunct sublime board, "The Curb" where many people considered me the "go to guy" for information on "sublime" and the rarities that they left behind for us all.

Sublime - another ? about 40 oz pressings

Question
Hey GMan,
It's Nate from Fullerton again.  Thanks for your previous answers and thanks in advance for the answer to this question.
I understand the difference in 40 oz pressings according to the tracklists, addresses and bar codes.  I was wondering if there is a difference in the skd #'s printed on the discs themselves.  For example I have a 4th-2nd that says skd-11283 on disc.  I also just purchased a 2nd-1st that also has skd-11283 on the disc.  Does this sound right or did I get the cd of one pressing in the case of another pressing?

Answer
Hey Nate,

Sorry dude,... Soooo busy right now.

Anyway, well, remember how I told you about them jacking around & 'Robbin The Hood'? Well, you gotta remember that you don't necessarily need new "CDs", you need new CD cases to sell them in (for a "new" pressing). So, essentially, you are probably looking at an instance here where you had some older pressings of the CD itself (that were found or were laying around) and they used them for the 4th-2nd CD case or insert. That would have saved them money on the "CD" press for that particular version/release of "40 oz. to Freedom". They were always doing that kind of shit.

Since you bought this used (I'm assuming),... This also could go the other way where; as you said, the seller didn't have the 4th-2nd CD so they put the 2nd-1st in there because it was either missing or in bad shape. Feel me?

Either way, you're still Golden. I have numerous pressings (usually the 2nd press-1st edition) that are the same way but the matrix number varies from CD to CD.

I hope this helps.

"All Sublime All The Time"

Peace,
GMan
