Question
QUESTION: i need to know what each and evry part of the sun means...please...its very important. thanks so much =)

ANSWER: Hey Brooke

OK, The "40 oz. Sun" is basically about decay & the different ways to get there. So, you have the Magic Mushroom that is down the middle. Above the eyes are a dead fish and a dead flower from the poison in our Ocean water out here. The skeleton down the middle is coming from the magic mushroom because those are "Psilocybin" mushrooms; which is a poison. On the left is a Genie and a Magic Lamp: Be careful what you wish for,... it could kill you. Next to that is the Devil: Ummm, he can kill you or kill your life or kill your dreams. In the middle (bottom) is the worm from a Tequila bottle; most likely "Mezcal" or Mescal Tequila which is well-known here in California for it's worm and the psychedelic effects that is causes. To the right, a skull which is pretty self-explanatory. Then, there is the pocket knife which most everyone carries out here. Most people prefer to use those when they kill someone because they are silent(unlike bullets) but deadly.

And,... finally,... there is a very small "peace sign" at the bottom which signifies that "peace" is still here and a part of the big picture but that it is being overwhelmed by the other shit so it is nearly unattainable when drugs, death and harm are everywhere around us.

I hope this helps.

QUESTION: what do the words on the pocket knife on the 40oz to freedom sun say?

Answer
Hey again Brooke,

It says: "ORTIZ"...  as in Opie Ortiz who did the painting and was responsible for much of sublime's artwork.

That's how he "signed" the "40 oz." Sun Art. He signs most of his artwork like that; kind of hidden.

Expertise

I can answer any/all questions in regard to "sublime". I was down with the band and Skunk Records since 1991; the year they released their second cassette, "Jah Won't Pay the Bills" until the end in 1996. I have answers to all of your questions about their music, their releases, their unreleased music, their promos, merchandise, and the like. You ask it, I'll answer it.

Experience

I have extensive knowledge of "sublime" from their origin(s)through the end of their career. I have been involved with "sublime" from the early years when Kelly Vargas was on Drums, I know everything that there is to know about their early career, their rise to fame in the early 90's, & on through until May 96' when Brad passed away. I specialize in the band's merchandise. I have been collecting everything that is "sublime" since the beginning and have extensive knowledge on the subject. They released an unparalleled amount of DYI promotional merchandise before being signed to MCA & I would be glad to help you find out what piece of their BIG puzzle you are holding on to and/or what you'd like to get your hand on!

Publications
I am a regular on all of the sublime chat boards and was a constant on the now defunct sublime board, "The Curb" where many people considered me the "go to guy" for information on "sublime" and the rarities that they left behind for us all.
