From What it sounds like, Theres a guy in the begging, Not Q-Ball, Then Q-ball Then The other guy, Fading out...  When i Look it up for like Lyrics of it, They Have Too $hort as the Rapper in the middle, and Q-ball as the begging/End guy... Very Confused now.. The Album Specifies theres a Sample Used in the song Q-Ball by Eazy-E. is it him? The other Guy Rapping? Please Answer i would Reallly appreciate it!

Answer
Hey Paul,

The song Q-Ball, featuring Q-Ball, Brad's cousin and Long Beach rapper, has the three parts. The first and last are said to be Q-Ball, and the middle section is said to be a local rapper named "9 Dre".

If the recording contains a "sample" of an Eazy E song, it may have just contained the beat or something like that; not actually Easy.

Now, who is "9 Dre"?

As far as I know, Brad and Easy didn't know one another, and remember, he says "and my nigga Brad" in the song. Seeing as he gives a direct shout out to Brad, it would seem that whoever it was, was there.

Now, considering that Eazy didn't die until March 26, 1995 & Robbin was released in 1994, your theory could be right. Meaning that it could be Easy E just as much as anyone because no one knows for sure who it actually is.

I'm not of the crowd that thinks it's "Too $hort".

However, I lean toward the theory that he was just one of Brad's cronies who was messing around with Bradley on the 4 track in the tweaker pad he was staying at. That happened a lot & he was the type that recorded everything. A lot of people came and went in those days too, for like a whole year & most were drug dealers or thugs who also liked to rap. That was his crowd, you know.

Considering that most of Robbin was just experimental messing around, I think that it's safe to bet that some dude; just like many others, was around when Brad was tweaking and recording everything that he came up with & just happened to make it onto "Robbin the Hood".

I hope this helps.

I can answer any/all questions in regard to "sublime". I was down with the band and Skunk Records since 1991; the year they released their second cassette, "Jah Won't Pay the Bills" until the end in 1996. I have answers to all of your questions about their music, their releases, their unreleased music, their promos, merchandise, and the like. You ask it, I'll answer it.

Experience

I have extensive knowledge of "sublime" from their origin(s)through the end of their career. I have been involved with "sublime" from the early years when Kelly Vargas was on Drums, I know everything that there is to know about their early career, their rise to fame in the early 90's, & on through until May 96' when Brad passed away. I specialize in the band's merchandise. I have been collecting everything that is "sublime" since the beginning and have extensive knowledge on the subject. They released an unparalleled amount of DYI promotional merchandise before being signed to MCA & I would be glad to help you find out what piece of their BIG puzzle you are holding on to and/or what you'd like to get your hand on!

Publications
I am a regular on all of the sublime chat boards and was a constant on the now defunct sublime board, "The Curb" where many people considered me the "go to guy" for information on "sublime" and the rarities that they left behind for us all.
