About GMan
Expertise
I can answer any/all questions in regard to "sublime". I was down with the band and Skunk Records since 1991; the year they released their second cassette, "Jah Won't Pay the Bills" until the end in 1996. I have answers to all of your questions about their music, their releases, their unreleased music, their promos, merchandise, and the like. You ask it, I'll answer it.

Experience
I have extensive knowledge of "sublime" from their origin(s)through the end of their career. I have been involved with "sublime" from the early years when Kelly Vargas was on Drums, I know everything that there is to know about their early career, their rise to fame in the early 90's, & on through until May 96' when Brad passed away. I specialize in the band's merchandise. I have been collecting everything that is "sublime" since the beginning and have extensive knowledge on the subject. They released an unparalleled amount of DYI promotional merchandise before being signed to MCA & I would be glad to help you find out what piece of their BIG puzzle you are holding on to and/or what you'd like to get your hand on!

Publications
I am a regular on all of the sublime chat boards and was a constant on the now defunct sublime board, "The Curb" where many people considered me the "go to guy" for information on "sublime" and the rarities that they left behind for us all.

Sublime - Sublime 40 Oz to Freedom Skunk Release

Expert: GMan - 5/20/2009

Question
Hey Gman. It's Jeff again. Thanks for the answer on my last question.  On
eBay right now seller rcd1980 is selling 2 copies of what he describes as
being 2nd pressings of 40 Oz to Freedom. Could you verify that they are as
described as I'm considering snagging one?  They've got a barcode on them
which I thought may have made them 3rd pressings. Thanks!!

Answer
Hey again Jeff,

Yes, those are technically "Second" press "40 oz." CDs. I know him and his stuff is good. Anything with the "203 Argonne" address is considered a "Second" press.

But, the "barcoded" 2nd press LIKE THAT is what we call a "Fourth-Second" press; the "Third-Second" Press being the non-barcoded one that looks like that one; both with the "203 Argonne" address.

However, There are a total of 6(SIX) "Second" press "40 oz." CDs.

(All WITHOUT the "Parental Advisory" sticker on front.)
---------------------------------------------------------------

* "First-Second" press= NO sticker over the address on back, looks like the "966" (same type face) & with NO barcode.

* "Second-Second" press= NO sticker over the address, looks like the "966" (same type face) & WITH barcode.

* "Third-Second" press= STICKER over the address with NO barcode.

* "Fourth-Second" press= STICKER over the address WITH barcode.
(Like the one in that auction..)

* "Fifth-Second" press= STICKER over the address WITH barcode & "Get Out" & samples REMOVED. On "Skunk Records" ONLY.

* "Sixth-Second" press= STICKER over the address WITH barcode & "Get Out" & samples removed. On "MCA/Gasoline Alley".

----------------------------------------------------------------

Then,.. and finally, came the "Gasoline Alley" version that is still in press today with the "Parental Advisory" sticker and "Get Out" removed as well as the Zeppelin samples.

----------------------------------------------------------------
What you really want to look for is the "First" presses of "40 oz." to get closer to the OG.

* The "First-First" press is incredibly hard to find and is all silver with "Skunk 01%" in the middle on the matrix. Disgustingly RARE.

* The "Second-First" press is a normal CD with the 966 Redondo address with NO barcode.

* And, the "Third-First" press is the same as the "Second-First" but with a barcode added for sales in record stores.

Try to get all of these,... and you can start with this one.

This is my buddy, "rasbumba" and this guy is MORE than legit AND he is currently selling a:

"Third-First" press (for a VERY good price.)

Good luck & here's the link. Don't let this one go, trust me.

I hope this helps.

Peace,
GMan
