About GMan
Expertise
I can answer any/all questions in regard to "sublime". I was down with the band and Skunk Records since 1991; the year they released their second cassette, "Jah Won't Pay the Bills" until the end in 1996. I have answers to all of your questions about their music, their releases, their unreleased music, their promos, merchandise, and the like. You ask it, I'll answer it.

Experience
I have extensive knowledge of "sublime" from their origin(s)through the end of their career. I have been involved with "sublime" from the early years when Kelly Vargas was on Drums, I know everything that there is to know about their early career, their rise to fame in the early 90's, & on through until May 96' when Brad passed away. I specialize in the band's merchandise. I have been collecting everything that is "sublime" since the beginning and have extensive knowledge on the subject. They released an unparalleled amount of DYI promotional merchandise before being signed to MCA & I would be glad to help you find out what piece of their BIG puzzle you are holding on to and/or what you'd like to get your hand on!

Publications
I am a regular on all of the sublime chat boards and was a constant on the now defunct sublime board, "The Curb" where many people considered me the "go to guy" for information on "sublime" and the rarities that they left behind for us all.

Question
hey gman im a big fan of sublime and love their bootlegs and unrecorded stuff i was wondering what the earliest unreleased sublime stuff you have is even if you cant release it yet because of MCA and some other stuff i was also wondering when romeo, roots of creation, ebin, and fighting blindly were recorded from sensimillia. oh and what does buddaby mean like in 'ALL you Need" sorry for multiple questions but thanks man

Answer
Hey Cameron,

Well, the oldest and rarest stuff that I have is the "c003" cassette. That is so rare because, first, it almost didn't even exist, and second, the versions of the songs are different than anywhere else, and third, because they only made 50 of them & that was almost 20 years ago now... not many still exist.

The tracks: Romeo, Roots of Creation, Ebin, and Fighting Blindly all came from the same time period as the 4 tracks that they put onto the "c003", but they left those songs off of that tape AND the "Jah Won't Pay The Bills" cassette because they weren't getting a big response when playing them live, but they got a huge response with the 4 songs for the first tape, and with good reason.. GREAT songs!

Then, on the "Jah" cassette, they added the "new" stuff because they were all ramped up on those songs and because audiences were going crazy for those tunes when they were playing clubs because it was new & everyone had heard the "Romeos" and "Roots" songs for years.

I do have some crazy rare stuff that, yes, I can not release because of sublime's (fucked up) contractual agreement with MCA. But, as soon as I won't get sued for everything I own, that shit will hit the street like O.J. in a White Bronco!!

Oh, and when Brad says "buddaby" in his songs, it's just another "reggae" influence that he picked up along the way after his trip to the Caribbean with his Dad in the late 80's. He fell in love with that place, their attitudes, and their music, so he would emulate it with everything that he would sing or write. Essentially, it's just a slang term that comes from reggae artists scatting throughout their songs. Brad just copied it; or rather, paid tribute to it.

I hope the helps.

"All Sublime All The Time"

Peace,
GMan
