Sublime/Whats Up Matt?

Question
Hey Matt.

Whats up?  I'm Ethan, 19, student. I just recently stumbled across a post you made on a Talkbass.com forum and you stated that you noticed how the songs were cut up with covers or samples and that is the reason why I am writing you.  I was wondering if anyone else noticed it because I just did today after listening to sublime more heavily over the past 3 years.  I also am a fellow "Not study music but love Sublime in a deeper aspect than there Top Hits,if you know what I mean?-fan". I feel I can examine the lyrics to their fullest if I just look at them right.  I am totally interested in your knowledge and surplus of that knowledge.  I am a Sublime fan to the fullest and would love a new wealth of knowledge.  I was also reading into the Crazy Fool: Portrait of a Punk book by Heidi Sigmund Cuda and how to acquire one and it seems now that it is within' my reach.

Thanks,
Ethan

Answer
Not a problem Ethan,

I'm glad to hear that you're that type of fan.  Rewind Selector (the name of the influences project) is available for free.  I can send it to you over AIM or we can work out something through mailing a disc if you pay postage and material costs.  Crazy Fool is something we can certainly figure out as well.  Just e-mail me and we'll go over the details:  mdmaguirespam [at] comcast [dot]

Have a good week!

Expertise

Guarantee: you will receive an answer within 2 days of posting the question -- whether it is a referral to a different expert or a straight answer to your question. I can answer most questions about the band, the significance of the lyrics, the show dates, the unreleased albums and tracks, misinformation, and, above all, I am an expert on their influences and related music. Additionally, if you're looking for that hard to find track or a cheap alternative to the $300 book Crazy Fool: Portrait of a Punk, I might be able to help.

Experience

I have been a huge fan for 16 years, I ran a server which distributed Sublime's live and unreleased music 24/7 for 4 years, I have answered questions about the band daily for a decade on their old website, and I know some of the largest collectors in the world. I created the 5 CD bootleg "Rewind Selector" which documents the influences of Sublime and was the topic of a Spin Magazine interview.

Education/Credentials
I did not study music in college, but I majored in English, so I can write a clear response. I worked as a research assistant in the past, so I have skills in research if I need to figure out an answer.

Past/Present Clients
Sublime fans aren't my clients, but I have distributed swag and rare tracks to all those who want them for years at little cost.
