AboutMatt Maguire Expertise I am new to allexperts, but have plenty of knowledge and experience in the realm of Sublime. Guarantee: you will receive an answer within 2 days of posting the question -- I have no feedback so far and would like to build some.
I can answer most questions about the band, the significance of the lyrics, the show dates,
the unreleased albums and tracks, misinformation, and, above all, I am an expert on their
influences and related music.
Experience I have been a huge fan for 14 years, I ran a server which distributed Sublime's live and unreleased music 24/7 for 4 years, I have answered questions about the band daily for years on their old website, and I know some of the largest collectors in the world. I created the 5 CD bootleg "Rewind Selector" which documents the influences of Sublime and was the topic of a Spin Magazine interview.
Education/Credentials I did not study music in college, but I majored in English, so I can write a clear response. I worked as a research assistant in the past, so I have skills in research if I need to figure out an answer.
Past/Present Clients Sublime fans aren't my clients, but I have distributed swag and rare tracks to all those who want them for years at no cost.
Question QUESTION: Can you provide the lyrics for this super sick cover? I know its from a show in '95 where brad plays mary and I think warning sign. thanks!
ANSWER: Jose --
Brad often messes up or "improvises" lyrics, but the parts he gets right when he covers this one is:
"Ring the alarm, and now the sound is dying (hey)
Ring the alarm, and now the sound is suffering...
Some sounds sound like a big jampon
Listen to sound it's a champion
Round the dance in any session
Rock up the woman and rock up the man"
The song is by Tenor Saw (not Beyonce or Christina Aguilera...haha) and the boys were influenced by him a lot. They use "Golden Hen", "Jah Guide and Protect Me", "Roll Call", "Wake the Town" and "Punkin Belly".
The part "rock up the country, rock up the 'back'(?)" is improvised.
Check out the bootleg Rewind Selector for all of this information -- I can hook you up with it if you find me on aim: nohinamherst

QUESTION: Thanks a lot for the info! brad seemed to "improvise" a lot but it was one of the best parts about the live shows. also, I think the one part goes "rock with some country, rock with the rap, rock the white, rock w/ the black. sweet reggae music, gwon the attack." I really wish that old sublime archive site was still around! thanks again!
Answer Jose,
The Archive will exist on budgaugh.com. I know because I have everything the Archive had (at one point I ran a server with everything the Archive had and more, then they replaced me). Bud contacted me and had me send him most of it on a disc.
