Question
I was a big fan of Wesley Willis, and I remember seeing Wesley open for Sublime in Charlottesville, Virginia, during the summer of 1995.  It was the only time I saw barricades at the front of the stage in Trax, and there were maybe 25 people there.

Before the show opened, Bradley smacked someone in the front row over the head with his stratocaster.

Do you know the date for this show?  Just curious.

Answer
Hey Sage,

First off, you are stoked that you got lucky enough to see them at one of their dates back East. They didn't go there or do that that often, so cheers to YOU on that one.

And, that's classic "Brad" with the guitar beat-down. He most definitely could have a temper sometimes. lol

Now, I'm not really familiar with the East Coast; other than PA and NYC, so you'll have to tell me if this is the show that you are talking about.

Sublime did a show on March 30th of 1995 in; not Charlottesville, Virginia, but a place called "Hampton, VA". The venue that they played at was called "The Abyss".

But!,... they also did a show on March 26th of 1995 at a venue that is listed as "TBA" (to be announced) on the "1995 Tour Dates" schedule. This is the only date on the 3 month schedule that does not list a venue, so this also may be the show that you saw.

As far as shows in Virginia go for 1995, they were limited to the month of March as far as I can tell.

If you are certain that the show took place in the Summer, let me know what the venue was called and the approximate month & I'll look into it further for you.

I hope this helps.

Expertise

I can answer any/all questions in regard to "sublime". I was down with the band and Skunk Records since 1991; the year they released their second cassette, "Jah Won't Pay the Bills" until the end in 1996. I have answers to all of your questions about their music, their releases, their unreleased music, their promos, merchandise, and the like. You ask it, I'll answer it.

Experience

I have extensive knowledge of "sublime" from their origin(s)through the end of their career. I have been involved with "sublime" from the early years when Kelly Vargas was on Drums, I know everything that there is to know about their early career, their rise to fame in the early 90's, & on through until May 96' when Brad passed away. I specialize in the band's merchandise. I have been collecting everything that is "sublime" since the beginning and have extensive knowledge on the subject. They released an unparalleled amount of DYI promotional merchandise before being signed to MCA & I would be glad to help you find out what piece of their BIG puzzle you are holding on to and/or what you'd like to get your hand on!

Publications
I am a regular on all of the sublime chat boards and was a constant on the now defunct sublime board, "The Curb" where many people considered me the "go to guy" for information on "sublime" and the rarities that they left behind for us all.
