About GMan
Expertise
I can answer any/all questions in regard to "sublime". I was down with the band and Skunk Records since 1991; the year they released their second cassette, "Jah Won't Pay the Bills" until the end in 1996. I have answers to all of your questions about their music, their releases, their unreleased music, their promos, merchandise, and the like. You ask it, I'll answer it.

Experience
I have extensive knowledge of "sublime" from their origin(s)through the end of their career. I have been involved with "sublime" from the early years when Kelly Vargas was on Drums, I know everything that there is to know about their early career, their rise to fame in the early 90's, & on through until May 96' when Brad passed away. I specialize in the band's merchandise. I have been collecting everything that is "sublime" since the beginning and have extensive knowledge on the subject. They released an unparalleled amount of DYI promotional merchandise before being signed to MCA & I would be glad to help you find out what piece of their BIG puzzle you are holding on to and/or what you'd like to get your hand on!

Publications
I am a regular on all of the sublime chat boards and was a constant on the now defunct sublime board, "The Curb" where many people considered me the "go to guy" for information on "sublime" and the rarities that they left behind for us all.

Sublime - Prophet (demo)

Expert: GMan - 8/22/2009

Question
Ok, GMAN so you might not know this answer and their may be no answer to this but in the end of the song Prophet (Everything Under the Sun Disc 2), Brad says "That was so Sick!, dude this song needs to be re-fuckin' thought out."  Was this song ever "re-fuckin' thought out" or did it just stay as a Demo?  Personally this is one of my favorites, it just seems like it could have gone far.  I know Slightly covered it but can you give me any more info??  BTW....Reppin' Sublime in Lincoln, NE all day.

Answer
Hey Ethan,

I'm so sorry for the delay. My fricken computer took a dump.

Anyway, the song "Prophet" is based around a Bob Marley idea & it was a Slightly Stoopid song. Bradley covered it and started playing it when he would go down to San Diego & hang with those guys back in 1995-1996. There are some infamous acoustic songs that were done down there in Kyle's living room; "Prophet" being one of them.

Then, Brad started playing it with Sublime and the version that you hear on "ETUTS" was done at the same time as the only 4 songs that were done before they went to Texas to do the "S/T". Just playing different stuff & jamming during those recording sessions, they came out of there with; not only "Ain't No Prophet", but also:

1.)Miami
2.)What I Got
3.)Doing Time
4.)Caress Me Down

The cassette from these sessions can be seen here...

By the way, you can also find the song, "Ain't No Prophet" on the infamous & awesome bootleg release, "bumS lie". It's also a different take(different version)than you hear on "ETUTS"

I hope this helps.

"All Sublime All The Time"

Peace,
GMan
