About Aleah
Expertise
I can answer questions about how to tell if someone may be suicidal, how to help a friend with suicidal intentions, and how to find help for someone who may be thinking of suicide. I can even help you deal with your own emotions and help you control any suicidal feelings. I cannot, however, substitute for an emergency hotline: if you're about to commit suicide, PLEASE call a hotline!

Experience
I've been there. I've had first hand, real-life experiences dealing with suicidal friends - and talked them out of it. I have even had suicidal intentions of my own and managed to overcome.

Education/Credentials
I am currently studying psychology and education.

Question
Hi im 15 years old boy. i been through alot of depression and i feel the cause of that is the world being so corrupted, if i had one wish i would wish for humans to be eradicated from the world, we humans have ruined this beautiful planet we once had. im sick of seeing so many teenagers acting how they are, how girls act like whores. it really depresses me seing 14 year old girls having sex and being pregnant and thinking how that is mature, and how rap music has fucked up so many kids thinking its cool to do drugs i really believe the world would be a better place without us. i been thinking of suicidal thoughts im not fit to live in this world with all this disaster in the world, any advice would be appreciated.

Answer
Laurent,

I agree with you, it IS very depressing what goes on in today's society. I also believe that today's teenager's are trying to grow up too quickly in ways that will just distort their lives forever. It also produces SUCH a negative attitude towards life; towards this beautiful planet.

...but, people like you and me are the people who need to help fight it. Sadly, there's not very much we can do to stop every girl from having way premature sex or from teenagers to stop doing drugs so heavily. But we can persuade and carry a positive attitude.

Somebody once sang to me, "Run, run, run, underneath my pillowcase / If life has taught me anything, it's all about the little things". He mentions all the little things... like a news anchor cracking a smile during a tragedy, or dancing on a table top.

Just remember how much a simple smile can mean. If you ever see someone struggling through these kinds of issues, be kind to them. Be a good friend. You're not going to change their lifestyles completely, but every bit of kindness and acceptance helps. Smiles are said to be contagious, so pass it on. Also, use your best knowledge. If someone you know is going through these issues, give them advice and head them into the right direction. You could be a lifesaver, you know.

If you're seriously feeling suicidal over these issues, I think it's time you seek for a happy friend. Sometimes, people get really depressed if everyone else around them is depressed. It's catching. But just as depression is contagious, so is happiness. Try to seek for some happier friends, and while your happy, maybe your own happiness can wear onto someone who really needs it :).

I really wish I could help you further (in fact, I've wished for world happiness on all of my birthday candles). Just be yourself and be happy. Hang in there  :)
