About Lynne Luckett
Expertise
I can answer questions about surviving suicide, about losing a family member to suicide and how to heal the hole that is left behind by a loved one committing suicide.

Experience
My father committed suicide when I was 8 years old. It took me 13 years to even start dealing with his death but once the healing started it was truly an educational experience. I know now that he is with me all the time and though his physical self is no longer here, his spirtual self lives on in me and my son. I'm now 49 and have talked to several people about losing a loved one to suicide and have received some positive feedback about my advice. I am a medical transcripitionist and have been in the medical field for 20+ years. I feel I survived my dad's death to have the understanding to be able to help others. I love to help others.

Answer
Hi Courtney!

The first thing I want to tell you is suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem.

The second thing I want to tell you is I know exactly how you feel even though it was a loooong time ago when I was in school.  I was teased only for the opposite reason...I was overweight.  What I have learned is that you have to stand taller than those who are making fun of you and calling you names.  They are petty people who get a kick out of being cruel.  As for your family, is it possible that they are just concerned about your health?  Have you been to a doctor and been checked out?  Is this a family trait?  There are a LOT of factors that can cause someone to be thin.  It's possible you are in a growth spurt and just waiting to catch up.  If you haven't seen a doctor about this, you need to and make sure everything is okay physically.  That might also be a good time to talk about your suicidal feelings.  Courtney, you have to seek professional help.  Either a therapist, psychologist and/or a physician/pediatrician (I am assuming you are under 18).

Above all else, you need to realize that you are a very precious gift to this world and there are great things expected of you still.  Without you here the destiny of so many others will be affected.  This life of yours is a gift not meant to be squandered away on people who enjoy being cruel.

Please know that God loves you and I do too!

Feel free to contact me again and let me hear from you.

Love ya,

Lynne
