Question
What is better for me, Beos or Linux. I don't have much time to configure, and I really don't like windows. Also, what's going to happen with Beos with the palm sale...is open-source the only way forward now? I currently run Redhat 7.1 and win '98 on a dual-boot, and want to sort it out
cheers
Felix

Answer
Hi!

Im no expert in either linux or beos, im mainly a solaris guy but I do have some opinions :)

I think you are correct when you say open-source is the way to go, I dont think beos has a very bright future. But there is a new candidate though which alot of people like, MacOS X.. Alot of people I know is starting to like it alot for desktop systems! Linux is really nice, although i think RedHat is something you start of with and then move on to other distributions such as debian or suse once you get more used to how linux works.. And Ive noticed that alot of people, once they learnt unix decently, moves to one of the *bsd's.

I hope this gave you some information
Best Regards
Kenneth
