Question I am using the SunOS. Currently, I am trying to add a path to my path environment variable, but I would like it to be the first path checked, not the last.
Also, I am unable to write to my .login file, although I think I may be able to do so to a .profile file, although there doesn't seem to be anything in there to begin with.
Thanks!
Sarosh
Answer Hello Sarosh!
You have to add you path like this
PATH=mypath:$PATH
then your path will be checked first
depends on what you want to archive ...
you can set aliases, environment variables, your path for instance and other things like command line prompt and so forth. if there is no .profile in your home directory just create one but be aware of different shells. Bash uses .bash_profile and sh or ksh use .profile .
You can have a look at my website and surf through some unix books. But you have to send me a mail so that i can give you access to those areas. www.allexperts.at
