Subject: telnet connection problems

Question
Hi ,,,,,, I am having a SUN Sparc E250 server ,,,, the problem is tht users are unable to connect via. telnet / ftp from their windows machines ..... I am in run level 3 and the inetd deamon is running and none of the entries in the /etc/services file are commented out.

My server and clients are part of the same network.

Thanking you

Shakeel

Answer
Hi!

Did you check /etc/inetd.conf? thats where the daemons
are commented out if you want to disable them.

Also something that is needed to work is dns, check /etc/resolv.conf and /etc/nsswitch.conf to see that they are setup properly (man resolv.conf & man nsswitch.conf)

Whats the error message that is displayed? Connection Refused?

// Kenneth
