Question
I have a very old Government book and the question I am looking for is:
What event prompted enactment of the Voting Rights Act of 1965?  What are its major provisions today?

The first part of the question I answered was Dr. Martin Luther King's voter registration drive in l965.  What are its major provisions today is not in my book and I wanted to get another opinion of what I found on the internet which might not be right.  If you can help me out I would appreciate it.

Thanks, Cody Reynolds
