Question
Is it possible for a U. S Supreme Court ruling to be overturned? If so, how? If not, why?
Has the Court ever reversed itself at a later date? Once the Court has ruled on a given issue, can it be presented again?

Is it possible for a U. S Supreme Court ruling to be overturned?
*At the time of the ruling no.
It is the final word. However, during the Civil War The president simply ignored them and considering having Chief Justice Tawney arrested. Honest Abe at work.
If so, how?
*No not legally at least.
If not, why?
*The Court was designed with lifetime appiontments so that
it would be a check on the President & Congress.
They also choose which cases they will hear & those they will
not. There job is to interpretate the Constitution
and ensure it not being violated.
Has the Court ever reversed itself at a later date?
*Yes, manytimes.
New cases were presented in different times with different
people on the court and it has reversed older cases.
Dredd Scott and Brown V Board of education are but 2 examples.
Once the Court has ruled on a given issue, can it be presented again?
*Normally not unless it based on different or new facts in the same case. If a new case is presented with the same issues they may choose to review it. Death penalty cases have
been presented many tines for example.
On the other hand the court has not been willing to hear a 2nd amendment case since the late 1930's.
