Subject: 1992 Sidekick convert to carburator from fuel injection

Question
Hi. I have a 1992 Suzuki Sidekick JLX, 4 Door, 4X4 and the computerized fuel injection system is messed up. I spend over $1,000 already to 3 mechanics, incl. a Suzuki Dealer to find out what is wrong with the system, but no one knows. The Dealer told me to buy a new computer for $2,500. More then the car is worth. SO. Is there a way to install a carburator? or which carburator would work with my engine? Is there a conversion kit available somewhere?

Answer
It's no solution.  If you live in the U.S., it's against the law.  I live there, and as a professional mechanic, am not permitted to assist with that sort of thing.
Go to IATN.NET  There's a shopfinder on the page.  You can find competent help.  It's not necessary to buy a new computer, rebuilt ones are available.  Go to IZOOK.COM  they have a link to a computer rebuilder.  A carburetor is a primitive device compared to injection, and I cannot strongly enough emphasize DON'T DO IT!
