Question
Dear Scott,

I am the owner of a '88 Suzuki Samurai. I had to install a new clutch in it because it wore out. When my dad and I put the car back together, we found a problem. The gearshift spins around. It does not stop when turned to the left or the right until it hits the interior. Please help.

                         Thank you,
                         Roger Allen

Answer
You should have a bolt left over with a portion of the threads machined away on the tip.  If you take the shifter apart at the base of the stick, you will see the slot machined in the ball at the base of the stick.  That's the place the bolt fits into.  If necessary, you can file the thread on the tip off sa regular bolt after cutting it to length to make a temporary repair.  If you haven't visited the site, try IZOOK.COM a good place for Samurai info/parts and so on.
