Question -
I am replacing my serpentine belt for my power steering and air cond. but I am unable to move my tensioner. What tools do I need and what technique is used to move the tensioner so I can replace my belt
Answer -
The answer is that it varies depending on manufactuer. You NEED a factory service manual. The aftermarket (chilton, haynes and so forth are mostly useless). Basically you either use a tensioner tool, or after having located the tensioning device, loosen the lock, remove tension, and replace the belt. About half of being a mechanic consists of figuring out how it works before you work on it.

The tensioner is not spring loaded. If I take the bolts out to put back
the belt then how do I replace the tensioner pulley?
Answer I"m at a loss to answer your question. It's been 6 years since I sold my last sidekick, and I can't remember how the tensioner is arranged. Sorry.
I repeat, you NEED a service manual. There are illustrations, and descriptions of repairs and adjustments. You can find your answer there.
