Subject: automatic trans park lockout switch

Question
95 Sidekick 4wd
when I start the vehicle cold I can take it out of park with no problem.  If I shift back into park right away (within a few minutes) the lockout switch will not release.  I have to wait a half hour or so before it will shift out of park again.  After the vehicle warms up it will shift in and out with no problem.
Any suggestions?

Answer
You'll have to take covers off and determine whether it's a strictly mechanical adjustment issue, or whether the electrical solenoid is not being actuated.  I've never had an automatic, and there aren't many of them in the backwoods of the Colorado mountains.
