Question David:
I am grateful to have you available. My son recently purchased his first car, a 1995 Suzuki Sidekick, JX convertible (private party transaction). We have found two initial problems. The first is that the rear door opened, but when we closed it we could not get it open again. The hand latch seems to be stuck and will not move at all.
The second problem is that the driver's side window has come off of its track and will not roll up without needing three hands to keep it straight all the way up.
Is there an easy fix to either of these problems or would we be best to take it to a serviceman. I know a bit about cars but not these particular problems. We did check this out before we bought it but did not encounter the problem until we got home, as usual. If you can help, I thank you.
Answer It's probable the door panel will have to be removed to deal with the door latch and/or handle. Until it's apart, what's wrong is anybody's guess.
Taking the door panel off is also the first step in the solution to the window problem. If you feel competent, go for it, otherwise time to see the mechanic.
