Subject: flywheel

Question
this is a standered trans.  my question is is the ring that the starter engages in a permanate part of flywheel or can it be replaced with out replacing the flywheel

Answer
I'm not sure.  The way I would find out is to first read the pertinent portion of the service manual.  Then I would find out if the part can be acquired for a reasonable cost (including machine shop costs to replace it), or whether a flywheel is more reasonable.
