Subject: racing idle

Question
I have a 1990 Suzuki Sidekick and upon starting the engine it begins to idle up and down as if I were revving the engine repeatedly. It tends to subside as the engine runs longer but it usually idles pretty high even when it does stop revving. What could this be caused by and how can I remedy the problem?

Answer
This is an idle system issue.  The only place I have found adequate and accurate diagnostic/adjustment information is in a Suzuki (factory) manual.  Go to izook.com  there are a number of links to people who will sell you a manual, and for less that a dealer.  The probability is that the TPS will have to be replaced, and then adjusted.
