Sweden - Swedish Roads

Expert: Michael Carlsson - 9/7/2000

Question
At what time of day on which day of which year did Sweden change from driving on the left hand side to the right hand side of the road?

Answer
Hello David, since 5 am Sept. 3, 1967, Sweden has right hand traffic.
There is still a few "resistant pockets" with left hand driving, mainly associated with bus and tram operations. I know of two places in Stockholm, where buses go "wrong way" because of the road and traffic situation, which hasn't been possible yet to rebuild.

More info about the left-to-right change can be found at:

Mainly in Swedish, but with a summary in English.

Hope this helps,
Best regards

Michael
